Are you looking for a fun, easy, no-fail craft? Painted Mason jars are easy with Vintage Market & Design Chalk-Based Paint. Chalk-based paint has a binder mixed into the paint which helps it stick to anything – glass, metal, plastic, laminate, wood, etc.
All you need for this project is a jar, paintbrush and chalk-based paint in the color of your choice.
For this Christmas jar, I used the color Antique.
Step 1: Open your paint and stir it well. Don’t skip this step or may get a streaky effect.
Step 2: brush on a LIGHT coat of paint. This first coat will not be pretty!
Step 3: Let the first coat dry for AT LEAST 1-2 hours. It will feel dry after 15 minutes or so but do NOT let this fool you. If you try to paint the second coat too early you will brush off the first coat and then you will be mad…
Once your jar is dry, add a second coat of paint.
Step 4: Take a fine sanding pad (100+ grit) or a piece of sand paper to rub the paint off the raised details of the jar.
