I love the art of hand embroidery. I’ve loved it since I was a girl back in the 60s and 70s. I learned to embroider from my mother when I was about 8 years old. It was pretty much Aunt Marthasville back then. Though the stitching was lovely, ladies were limited as far as patterns were concerned.
Aunt Martha is considered vintage and is being embraced all over again, but I’m happy for the new fresh patterns and techniques. It’s a whole new embroidery world!
I’ve been a stitching fanatic a good part of my life. I’ve always loved to create personalized patterns for friends, relatives or special occasions. My daughter asked me to start teaching at Tangle, her yarn store, about 4 years ago. I started teaching and I fell in love with embroidery all over again. I began designing patterns and offering every kind of stitching class imaginable, from old fashion hankies to stitching on jeans to notebooks & coin purses!
Tangle closed almost a year ago so I set up my little Shop inside Seasons to Follow in downtown GJ where I now teach and sell my own line of patterns, along with tons of fun things to stitch with!
I’m excited to be joining SFM. I look forward to meeting many new stitching friends and to share my love for Embroidery. I invite you to join a class whether or not you’ve ever stitched, you too may fall in love!
